Interior Design - The Basics
Course Outline
Planning to redecorate or simply refresh a living space or complete property? Prepare a number of style boards – not only your anchor to keep you on track, but also to use as your navigation tool for communication to suppliers, architects and tradespeople.
Learn about different historic and thematic styles and the importance of the elements and principles of design and layout. A strong focus is placed on colour theory, the effect of light, and finding ways to easily adopt property styling methods to your own home. Find your style and create your mood by practical and theoretical activities working with styles, colours and textures.

About the Tutor
FIONA BARRY
Fiona studied Art, Design and Art History at Epsom School of Art and Design, UK and then moved to Australia to work in the corporate sector and utilise her Marketing and PR qualifications gained from the College of Distributive Trades in London and University of NSW, Sydney.
Fiona always maintained her keen interest in colour, design and finalised her Diploma in Interior Design. Additionally, she graduated from the International School of Colour & Design with a Certificate IV in Colour and Design and a Diploma in Surface Design. She was awarded ‘The Award for Excellence’ in both courses.
Throughout her business career she never lost touch with her passion for art and design – specifically interior design. She opened her own Interior Design consultancy in 2014 and has since worked on numerous residential design assignments in Australia and the UK, helping solve colour and design issues for both new builds and existing residences. Commercially, she has also redesigned the interior of a Sydney based restaurant, a public lobby in a large residential block and two patient waiting rooms.
Although not her primary role, Fiona gets enormous fulfillment in watching her students progress and gain confidence when dealing with their own homes, through sharing her skill with others in a classroom training capacity
