Northern Beaches Community College is now offering the following courses which include practical skills to help people reconnect with the community and prepare for social interaction, work or volunteering:

These are friendly, accessible courses each of which includes some of the following topics:

• Diet and Exercise
• Building Self Confidence
Course cost
These courses are fully funded under the NSW Community Service Obligation Program. This Program has been designed to support to those who are disadvantaged and who need additional skills and knowledge to move into further study and/or gain employment/volunteering. It is part of the NSW Government’s Smart & Skilled training reform. See eligibility information below.
How to book an interview
The College is offering 20 minute appointments with our Course Adviser, Sally Cornelius, on the dates listed below. Sally will chat with you to help you decide if any of our courses will be of benefit to you. Enrolment can be organised on the day if you choose.
Appointment bookings can be made online (see below), via your Case Manager or by phoning the College on 9970 1000. Interviews will be held at College Campus at 1525 Pittwater Road, North Narrabeen. (Note: Please bring photo identification, medicare card and pension card (if applicable) to the interview for eligibility purposes.)
About our Course Adviser
Sally Cornelius has a diverse background working with people who experience mental health challenges, physical disability, aged, homeless, female offenders, people in crisis and vulnerable people who have become isolated. Sally has many years of experience working in government and non government organisations.
Throughout her extensive career, Sally has supported many individuals who have not had opportunities to find a place in the community. She has a good working knowledge of resources that can support people to live independently and consider choices. Sally is a great advocate of social justice and supporting people to enjoy a good quality of life to reach goals. She is passionate about supporting minority groups to integrate into an ever changing community.
Course venues
The courses will be held at our College Campuses at either Level 1, 14 William Street, Brookvale or 1525 Pittwater Road, North Narrabeen.
Eligibility
Students must be:
- Australian/New Zealand citizens or Permanent Residents or hold a Humanitarian visa
- Aged 15+, no longer at school and a NSW resident
In addition students must be either:
- Experiencing hardship (or in need of the skills provided in these courses) as verified by a letter from a medical professional, government agency or support agency OR
- Receiving one of the following Commonwealth Government benefits or allowances:
