Sign Language Level 1

This course offers students the unique and fun experience of communicating visually using Auslan (Australian Sign Language), the native language of the Australian Deaf community. This course is great for anyone looking to be introducted to the Auslan and Deaf culture, are managers, employers, teachers, health professionals, friends and colleagues of Deaf people and want to attend a short course in their local area with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Students Will

  • Use basic communication skills in Auslan
  • Use visual-gestural communication strategies
  • Identify the Deaf Community
  • Explain effective ways of communicating with Deaf people
  • Be introduced to fingerspelling patterns
