Social Media for Work

Social media is not just for socialising! Businesses use social media as an effective way to communicate with their existing and potential clients, and many employers now expect their workers to be able to represent them on social networks. Social media can also be used as a networking tool within organisations and industries.

Prerequisites

You must have a personal Facebook account and be familiar with its use. Including the following

  • Following the News Feed
  • Creating different types of postes to your Facebook Friends
  • Navigating the Facebook interface on a computer (Windows PC or Mac)
Please note If you do not have these skills we offer a Facebook for Beginners course on Thursday 12 October(cost for this course is $57)
  • Basic internet skills

This course will provide students with the skills needed to establish and maintain a networking presence, using the most common social media tools and applications for both work and social purposes.

• Represent a business using social media and networking tools
• Use social media tools to communicate and collaborate with colleagues, clients, and future employers
• Facebook
o Contributing to a business Page
o Facebook groups
o Messenger
o Workplace by Facebook
• Twitter, Instagram – learn the basics and more
• Various methods of accessing and using social media tools – via Windows PC and mobile digital devices

These skills will greatly improve your job seeking opportunities.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.

Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence used (eg passport or driver’s licence) when creating your USI eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used.

Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place. You will need this information for any future enrolments into accredited training in Australia.

Funding

Assessments are made against units of competency from the Certificate I in Information, Digital Media and Technology ICT10115.
