Social Media in the Workplace

Businesses use social media as an effective way of communicating with their existing and potential clients, and many employers now expect their workers to be able to represent them on social networks. This course provides students with the skills needed to establish and maintain a networking presence for a business, using the most common social media tools and applications.

  • Facebook and Instagram – In depth
  • An introduction to other popular social platforms, eg. Twitter, LinkedIn
  • Creating a social media strategy
  • Creating a content calendar
  • Sourcing, curating and posting content on a range of social networks
  • Designing and creating content using Canva
  • Communication using social media tools, including conflict and crisis management


You must have a personal Facebook account and be familiar with its use. Including the following:

  • Following the News Feed
  • Creating different types of postes to your Facebook Friends
  • Navigating the Facebook interface on a computer (Windows PC or Mac)
  • Familiar with internet navigation and use

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.

Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence used (eg passport or driver’s licence) when creating your USI eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used.

Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place. You will need this information for any future enrolments into accredited training in Australia.
