Word 2010 Introduction

This course provides training to meet the requirements of BSBITU201A Produce simple word processed documents from Certificate II in Business BSB20115. This course aims to give the learner a very good basic grounding in the use of Microsoft Word 2010 to create everyday documents required either at work or at home. The course begins by showing the user how to navigate around Microsoft Word 2010. It quickly gets the user to create a new document before getting into features such as formatting and printing.

Course Outline

1. Prepare to produce documents

  • Use safe work practices to ensure ergonomic, work organisation, energy and resource conservation requirements are addressed
  • Identify document purpose, audience and presentation requirements, and clarify with relevant personnel as required
  • Identify organisational and task requirements for document layout and design

2. Produce documents

  • Format document using appropriate software functions to adjust page layout to meet information requirements, in accordance with organisational style and presentation requirements
  • Use system features to identify and manipulate screen display options and controls
  • Use manuals, user documentation and online help to overcome problems with document presentation and production

3. Finalise documents

  • Ensure final document is previewed, checked, adjusted and printed in accordance with organisational and task requirements
  • Ensure document is prepared within designated time lines and organisational requirements
  • Name and store document in accordance with organisational requirements and exit application

National Recognition

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) - is a means of measuring skills acquired through work or life experiences or through qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Any student who believes they may be eligible for RPL must apply for this at least two weeks prior to the course commencing. If you apply after the course commences it may not be accepted.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.

Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence used (eg passport or driver’s licence) when creating your USI eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used.

Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place. You will need this information for any future enrolments into accredited training in Australia.
